McCarthy declared that the allegations warranted further investigation by the House of Representatives, leading to the formal impeachment inquiry.
The inquiry will be overseen by three prominent Republican legislators: Reps James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith, who are currently investigating Biden’s alleged involvement in bribery-related activities. McCarthy asserted that these investigations have revealed instances where President Biden misled the American people about his family’s foreign business dealings. He claimed that eyewitness testimonies indicated multiple phone calls, interactions, and dinners that resulted in significant financial gains for Biden’s son and his associates, including substantial payments.
Furthermore, McCarthy referenced almost 150 Suspicious Activities Reports (SARs) and a trusted FBI informant’s allegations of bribery involving the Bidens. He argued that the Biden family received preferential treatment from the Biden administration, sparking concerns about accountability and ethics.
Prominent conservative figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene have long advocated for an impeachment inquiry, criticizing what they perceive as corruption within the Biden family. Taylor-Greene expressed her dissatisfaction with the status quo, urging Republicans in Congress to take action against alleged bribes and shady business dealings.
Additionally, Rep. Matt Gaetz alleged that Rep. Eric Swalwell approached him, proposing votes to remove McCarthy from his position for not expediting action against the alleged Biden racketeering. However, Swalwell’s proposal did not gain traction.
